Knot That You Would Know

Terry's shoe had a knot. Terry's determined to get it out. Yes, he was! She was...

Oh, whatever.

Go, Terry! GO.

“Terry, your house is burning down,” said Nick. “What the hell are you doing?”

“House?” inquired Terry. “Hey, Nick, there's a knot in my shoelace – and this
time I'm going to unravel it. This time I am, I am, I am ... am I?”

“Dude, your house is burning,” Nick shouted. “Get a grip!”

“The friggin' shoelace!” repeated Terry.

Nick ran to call 911.

Somehow ... in the process of untying the laces ... a stubborn knot had formed on top
of Terry's left shoe ... if the knot wasn't removed, the shoe would be very hard to
get back on.

Bad shoe! Why did life have to be so hard? I will triumph over this knot!

She glanced at the burning house, then re-attacked the difficult shoelace.

In the distance, as sirens blared, horns honked ... thick irritating smoke filled the air.

Terry's cell phone rang. “Terry, you OK? I smell smoke!”

Another concerned friend calling.

Your house is burning. Wake up, Terry. Your walls are in flames!

“The knot is beginning to loosen,” she said.
“I've almost got the durn knot out,” he said.

Heat from the flames began to intensify, but Terry wasn't yet hysterical.

The foundation of Terry's house began to crackle with with penetrating layers of fire,
with searing orange plumes; then it collapsed .... Exploded. It imploded!

                                 The air filled with ash.

“I've got the knot out!” shouted Terry.
