Welcome to the Gryphon's Nest!

The gryphon lined its nest with such
As none will see again
But treasured most the deepfelt words
Sung from the hearts of men

Indifference

There is deep pain
  in my heart
An agony of millions
 children too weak
        to cry
Of generations lost in
 the indifference of
 an affluent world
A legion of lost souls dying
 on the plains of a
 dry indifferent land
Orphans of a war, of
 all holy wars
To freedom's path they
 fought and killed
For religion, ideology . . .
And in their blood
 the children stood
Flowed the last hope of
 a lost tribe of innocents
Wandering aimlessly
 over the parched,
 exhausted
 land,
         searching
       But not finding . . .
 anything except death
And the legions
      of the lost
       children
           keep marching
Generation after generation . . . . .
        While freedom fights
               for. . .
There is sadness
                in my heart
In the cries of the
     dying children
           on the plains
 of mankind's
               indifference

Otherwise

Whispering in the dark-
memories lost
or stolen
They call to me through
the pervasive black
and summon me to some
unknown course
This fabled path
to Home or otherwise
I vagrantly wander
with Hope and otherwise
to find my forsaken way

Singing in the dark-
secrets lost
or stolen
They beckon me through
the invasive mist
and pull me to some unknown wilderness
This fabled chaos
of God and otherwise
I blindly search
for Good and otherwise
to find my forbidden way

Screaming in the dark-
spirits lost
or stolen
They wrench me from
the evasive light
and drag me to some
unknown death
This fabled existence
of Love and otherwise
I humbly choose
to Live or otherwise
and find my foreshadowed way

Lavender

Finally, there you were across
the train platform
Your blue eyes smiling into mine
Two lives evolving
for an eternity
As if in a dream
closer and closer
Our secret souls journeyed
In the labyrinth of time
Cold concrete and white tile
Blossomed into
orchards of orchids
Your soul reached out
and caressed my lavender hair
I felt gentled and tugged
by an ancient remembrance
Two pieces of a puzzle
Missing, then-
Interlaced in a hug
I inhaled papaya and peace
I awoke in a bed of brass
And there you were
Golden sheets sliding
across our silken breasts
Your blue eyes smiling into mine
Watching rose petals floating in
crystal bowls
Red velvet boats
And melted candles glowing
in the dawning light
Shadows loomed outside our door
Pounding and calling our names
You drank my tears
And I stroked your face
The black vapor of paralyzing fear
Amalgamated into anger
Eyes smiling
You threw open the bolted door
And invited trouble in
Naked and proud
We supped with the devil
and fattened him with bitter ambrosia
We trussed his paws with
webs of flowers
flowing from our fingertips
Alone and adrift in our entanglements
We nearly lost each other
In the embryonic seas of our life
And then you were there
In an orchard of orchids
Under the canopy of heaven
Your blue eyes smiling into mine
I lay my head against your
Heart beating eternally
In rhythm with the cadence of time
And you stroked my lavender hair

The Panda Poem

On one side he is as black as a never ending night
while the other is as majestic as fresh fallen snow
with a beautiful shade that is so shiny and bright
that the identity of this creature is clear to know
part of a species forced to take part in a lengthy fight
soon to join a fate no animal wishes to follow.
He is the infamous creature who is known by all
and we all never hesitate to admire and adore him
while the numbers of his species continue to fall.
Their hopes for survival seem to be extremely dim
and unless someone takes the time to answer the call
the only way we be able to watch him will be on film.

We must force the hunt to end and make sure that line is drawn
or the beautiful China Panda will be extinct and forever gone...

A Kiss

It doesn't
have to mean
anything to you.
I don't care
what's seen,
just something we should do.

If you
ask me why,
it's something in your eyes.
Tell me
we should try
and help my dream realize.

Are you
going to make
my whole world go round?
Don't be afraid
to take
a step, a leap, abound.

I will have to
steal it,
if you tell me no
A thief
they may commit,
when they come to know.

But you and I
know what's true,
who stole what today.
Not me,
but you,
who stole my heart away.

Melodrama

I'm back where I belong,
Drowning in my own tears,
There's nothing ever left to say,
Now that I'm all alone,
I've got you on my mind,
Like a scar that hurts in the cold,
I am cold,
And I am numb,
>From the warmth around me.
I stay frozen,
In time,
Cause every time I look up,
I just see you,
When the wind blows,
I feel your embrace,
When the sun shines,
I cast a long shadow,
When the moon is up,
I lay thinking,
How perfect if it could've been,
You and me,
But I'm a loner,
Hearing echoes of love,
All around me,
And I'm not responding,
Cause I know not,
That language anymore,
I am carnal,
I know lust,
I stare, predatory,
Everyone else is but a prize,
But you,
Not you,
Never you,
Or was I the prey?
This isn't over,
Me and you,
Out of sight,
Nay, not out of mind,
I wait...
No!
I wait not,
I merely despair,
Skulk in the shadow of self doubt,
Look at me,
What do you see,
Beyond superficial,
You know me not,
At least you're honest enough to say so.
I am inside out,
I burn intense,
I am cold fire,
I am brooding,
Lull before the storm,
And I am saddened,
By it all,
For I have everything,
And that is what,
I want not,
And I would give it all,
Even unto death,
For you,
For you...
