Thoughts of a Seeker

May 1999

Sometimes it's just plain important to be reminded that what the writers write is appreciated. Frequently I receive pleasant kudos for Seeker, which are the subject of this letter. Even when the Feedback Board was operating, the compliments frequently didn't get onto it. I trust that everyone who I've included won't mind having their compliments reproduced, so here goes.

"Hi, I too am a seeker. I just came upon your wonderful site. Checked out your article "Thoughts of a Seeker" loved it. I plan to send a contribution soon...Keep up the good work. I know that if all the scattered pockets of people who hold a common vision of a better world will share their thoughts; together we will spin a web across the globe that will transform our world." (Pauline)

"The magazine is just terrific!...Newton's Baby Press is going to publish a book-length collection of my poems in the near future. Yippee. I just wanted to say thank you for all your encouragement this past year." (J. Buck)

"Your site is excellent... The principal of letting ideas brew in this site with freedom, and searching for a better understanding of the world and the place us humans have in it as a part, is a wonderful principal. A principal that has to guide many people needed to better the world and our existence in it. That is why I like the site.... I believe especially here in the United States, we sort of [have a] revolution of spiritual, ethical and cultural values. Our technocratic society has given us many gifts, but we are losing very important particularities of the human soul, we are alienated as never before, as [far as] I see. In other words, we need a lot of daring people full of passion for life, maybe a little crazy that, like Don Quixote, can initiate a flux of life in everything we do. People that search for universal philosophical values, people who search for all kinds of esthetic values, people who can live... enjoying life and in harmony with the cosmos. Seeker is an initiative to better our world as far as I've seen." (R. Bacon)

"There have been many zines come and go on the net, but Seeker retains a solid foundation of spiritually uplifting tales...I've been following your magazine for some considerable length of time and have had several stories in it. I originally submitted because I enjoy the tone of Seeker." (J. Gardiner)

"The April Seeker Magazine is wonderful! I like all the different points of view that are being shared from differing backgrounds and talents." (S. Kramer)

"Discovered your site whilst during a search for "Original Thought". I had this brainwave that if I could identify Original Thought I could actually grasp the concept of Divinity, something which seems to elude me...Well, I didn't exactly find Divinity, but I did discover "Seeker" so I guess that wasn't a bad result. I spent some time going over your site and then gave some thought to submitting a piece...I like what I read on your website, and I hope you continue to walk the "seeker" talk. (C. Garratt)

"I have thoroughly enjoyed this month's issue of Seeker Magazine! Thanks so much for providing an outlet for so many talented and interesting people! ... Please keep up the good work -- all of us who MUST write need a chance to share our scribblings with the world, even though the ore from our "word mines" may not always be viewed as gold!" {T. Rolan}

"Just wanted to compliment on the March edition and to thank you for your initiation of my Cold Turkey Tirade article." (M. Mattix)

"Hi, I was reading on the internet and came across the article about labyrinths. I found it fascinating. We are going to put one on the hall floor in our church and try it in our spirituality group. I'm looking forward to working with it. Thank you for your article." (B. Martin)

"Your site really is very special, it brings a gentleness as well as wisdom to the internet. I'm touched and honored that you'll be featuring SagePlace in your February issue and can't wait to tell Kevin as I know he'll be delighted." (T. Fowles)

"I love your magazine, it is like a breath of fresh air....Can't wait to get at the January issue tonight. Good luck with it....It looks so good!!!...Want to wish all of you at Seeker Magazine a wonderful new year and a thanks for the year past. The magazine was my first choice when I looked for a place my stories would fit, and Denise Ruiz published my first publication here on Seeker Magazine this year. I shall never forget the wonderful feeling I had when I read her letter. But the whole magazine is what matters. I can only tell you how proud I am to be part of it all. (M. Carmen)

"We have a top-notch magazine this month -- full of good writing. When you compare it to the others it seems to have an orchestrated mission that the others lack... It's such a pleasure working with you and Seeker. I contribute to other internet literature magazines and I speak from experience when I say that none of them seem to have the purpose and unity that Seeker has. They will print anything and everything regardless of its incompatibility. A bouillabaisse of whatever fits the web page. So I always come back to Seeker, feeling a little guilty for straying and thanking you and Denise for picking me out of the gutter." (H. Buschman)

"I had the time this morning to read some of the Seeker articles. What you and the rest are doing is a fantastic idea realized." (A. Carmichael)

Well, all I can say is that it continues to be an enjoyable task...to read all the submissions and put together a new 'zine each month. (Even if the Sundays it goes on-line get a little brain-frying.)

Thank you all, writers and readers, for continuing to keep Seeker walking its path.

Truly,
Cherie Staples
