Message on the Solar Eclipse of August 11, 1999

Return to the Table of Contents

There is a special place that I visit for festivals of the seasons and of the sun and moon located outside of Boulder, called Starhouse. I attended last month's New Moon Celebration (for women only), and the leaders announced that the next one would be held August 10th at the usual time of 5:30 p.m. and would be followed by a special event open to all to recognize the full solar eclipse which would be occuring early the next morning.

One of the members of the Starhouse crew has written a paper about the significance of this eclipse and significance of the configuration of three planets, Mars, Saturn, and Uranus, with the sun, moon, and earth, forming what is called a Grand Cross.

The paper points out that Mars and Saturn have been in opposition twice this year, and this upcoming date marks the third time. In January was the first, when the decision was made to bomb Kosovo; the second occurred on April 20, the date of the Littleton, Colorado, murders.

Another fact listed is that there are a series of eclipse paths descending from the North Pole and twining around. Each one of the series is separated by 54 years and one month, making this eclipse related to the eclipse of July 9, 1945, occurring just before the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Starhouse is planning to work on the issues of the August 11th eclipse during the gathering of the evening before. Perhaps there are people in your area who are also focusing energy on it. If you would like to read the whole paper, it is accessible (in PDF format) through their website, Starhouse-All Seasons Chalice.
