If

If you could somehow review time
And acknowledge your mistakes
To undo all that you wished undone,
Would you first kiss the morning awake
And open her eyes to the promise of day?

If you could withdraw the anger you'd spent
And retract your words' stinging rays,
To say what you wish you had said,
Would you grant furlough to melodies
And music you wish you had meant,
And release garlands and lilies of praise?

If you could relive many moments
When you'd withheld love and affection
And in stalwart isolation remained headstrong
yet alone,
Would you now embrace the living
To make peace with the dead?

If you could surrender all fears of being abandoned
To allow others' affection and esteem for you
Be whispered, then rejoiced in your own awareness,
Would you first unveil to them
How much you missed and adored them, as well?

If you could remember to awaken
From bits and pieces of pain which jar your senses,
To filter the essence of awareness
From moments of disappointment and unconscious behavior,
Would you now become enlightened
And shine a soft light of forgiveness towards yourself
Where once you were perfectionistic and so critical
?

If you could fathom the inconsistencies of Creation
To accept the magic which arises from chaos,
And build castles with the same patience as coral,
To sculpt the majesty of belonging
With the equanimity of a grand canyon,
Would you begin to treat yourself with the unforced wisdom
As forces of Nature, to yield to the grace, and even the discipline
Of a single seed sprouting to this leafy shade tree?

Sit with me under these boughs
.
You will be granted three wishes of kindness
To shower care and affection upon one another
Where once you had responded with absolute certainty...
...Are you ready at last to claim dominion in this garden,
Like a Lord or Lady, fruitful in fertile lands of understanding?
Plant this tiny lotus seed, M'Lord.
M'Lady.
From this moment onward, as the world releases its rushes
For another fleeting snapshot in eternity, remember:
There is no hurry. Haste is only your illusion
When temporarily you have forgotten one magnificence –
The magnificence of your birthright to what
you already are.

Listen.
your soul is singing of honey and hibiscus and sunflowers
