INFINITE ONE

o being that has no end and no beginning
that wraps its infinite tendrils
through the hollows of this world
      creating wonderment
    lightening despair

would that we still worshipped you
      as the nameless one
    being with no humanity attached

you could as well be a dolphin god
      a chickadee god
    a woodchuck god

I think that I shall pray to you
as that sunstruck edge of cloud
    shining through the hemlock's branches

I think that I shall pray to you
as a little girl's laughing eyes
    and whimsical smile

I think that I shall pray to you
      as that enveloping hug from
    someone who understands and cares

infinite everlasting one
