Some
Thoughts
on
Anger
Causes and Control Susan Kramer |
Feeling
anger is beneficial
when it
motivates us to make necessary changes
But, when anger has the upper hand on our peace of mind, it blocks our ability to think constructively to reach a resolution. And, anger gone wild is an emotion of frustration for not getting our way.
These steps
can solve the problem that caused us to feel anger in the first place:
1. Write down
the issues at hand;
2. Write out
possible solutions;
3. Make a
pro and con list of these solutions;
4. Contemplate
on the pro and con list and choose to act on that which is harmless to
everyone and everything involved;
5. Act to
carry out the best productive plan.
Anger is useful to alert us that a change needs to be made. But, then it is up to us to make the necessary changes.
We feel anger in response to a situation not under our control. By taking productive steps to resolve the issues at hand, we regain our peace of mind and solve the problem.
As humans we are working daily with the aspects of mind-body-emotion. It is a juggling act to maintain harmony amongst these 3 aspects. It is also a challenge that makes full use of our capacity to solve intricate problems from various choices.
While humans
we get to practice all aspects of our humanity
That means
paying attention to our feelings and thoughts
Then choosing
to act productively rather than reactively
Anger Robs Today's Happiness
Anger invades our natural peacefulness, an unsettling visitor. Besides anger's stress in the mind, it is generally known that anger raises blood pressure.
Anger is
a response to frustration
If we remain
steady and thoughtful we avoid frustration
Frustration
grabs hold when we give up control of our mind
There is no productive reason to give in to expressions of anger. The situation is compounded by the addition of disharmony. We are replacing our natural state of happiness with unnatural discord.
Working out constructive solutions that bring back peace and harmony for everyone avoids frustration and the resulting breakdown in anger.
All situations have a harmonious resolve, they always will. Our actions for the best resolve of the situation realign us with our natural balanced state of happiness.
Happy by
choice avoiding frustration
by thoughtfully,
peacefully aligning with the highest good
Handling Adversity
There are positive and negative charges within every atom of creation. These opposing energies cooperate, causing motion, the flow of energy. Some energy solidifies, forming physical matter; some is felt, but unseen as in heat and electricity.
When confronted with adversity in other people we can retain our peacefulness by assuming a neutral position.
Adversity in people or a situation is 'cross traffic'. Allowing their opposing energy to go by while remaining in neutral keeps us out of an 'accident' of conflict.
Self-centered attitudes tempt us to pull out of neutral into conflict because we feel our point of view is being jeopardized. But within the negative or opposing side of peace there is no resolve that serves the highest good. Decisions out of strife or anger fail as they are not born of balance and harmony - nature's way to encourage universal order.
Handling
adversity
Pausing,
waiting
while energy
of anger passes by
Later,
adversity harnessed
into cooperative
action
Peace regained
Harmony
maintained

Chick
is just 2" long sitting on clematis stem next to ceanothus bush; this was
just minutes after hopping out of the nest. Later in the day after wandering
under the bushes and calling for a parent it flew away. The whole family
returned for a brief visit after 3 weeks.
