In Praise of Cynthia (Wrapped Around Destiny)
in honor of Dr. C. Morrow
We get hurt
Because we think we should mean more to everyone
and their story
And in truth, we're peripheral
and we don't mean as much as we might like.
The existential realization is that we want to mean more —
yet almost everyone
is w r a p p e d around
their own destiny.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We can take it personally
that others don't respond
...to what we're giving...
but we fail to realize
that they're not
EQUIPPED
to take
i t
in
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Even though we believe we should mean infinitely
more to everyone, they're invested
with their own carry–on luggage.
("I'm carrying my own bags,
THANK–YOU VERY MUCH!")
We can take it personally
that others continue to be unresponsive to our gifts,
But
they're all wrapped up
with tangling — or untangling —
their own gift wrap. They're wondering where
to put the bow
, whether to take a
bow,
or just bow out. And we feel like saying,
BOW – WOW,
what about ME?
(Maybe we want to be
the beau...)
Oh no,
they say,
we're all
strung up
in ourselves.
s o r r y.
Wrapped around destiny... Or perhaps just tangled around gift WRAP.
So, dear friends, picture this – and ask yourself:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Imagine that you're
in a boat
...and what would...
HAPPEN
if you stopped
rowing?
... Would THEY do the work ?
... or Would they just SIT THERE ... With their parasol?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yes, What Would Happen
if you Stopped Rowing?
