Welcome to the Gryphon's Nest!

The gryphon lined its nest with such
As none will see again
But treasured most the deepfelt words
Sung from the hearts of women and men

Thinking With Feelings

by Richard Denner

thinking with feelings
my voice comes from far away
from within a mirror
where phantoms whir

friend, I see in you
something in me
I fear

a power in us
the cruelty to kill

I have walked through Hell
and eaten my bread
soaked in tears

I am numb
having seen the beautiful
faces of the dead

Both of Me

by Cher L.

I Will never understand,
how few people really realize
the worth of just
one single human heart.

How much is held within those chambers
how easily scarred those chambers
can become.

She never saw it coming.

I watched her from beginning to end.

She let herself FEEL,
to spite her fears.
Then trust,
Then Love.

I wanted to warn her,
I whispered,
"Step carefully."

She did not heed my warning.

She misunderstood me,
she thought I was trying to
keep her from love.
I was only afraid for her,
I didn't want her to hurt,
not any more.

She gave her all,
and when they disappointed her,
she cried to me.

And I cried with her,
I so wanted her to prove me wrong,
just once.

Thus,
Just another chapter in the life.

She will give again,
and I will fear for her ... again.

You see, She and I,
we reside in the same heart.
The same flesh.
I am her
and she is me.
My name is Fear
and her name is Hope.

We struggle daily,
to find common ground.

Yet,
inside that struggle...
Somehow,
Someway,

We manage to keep each other going.

Joy, Rapture

by Duane Locke

Joy, rapture
Are mine,

Although I'm here
Where the beliefs and values of the people
Are unbearable.

I will no longer imitate their unhappiness,
Imitate
So I won't be ostracized.

It is a miracle,
This wonderful feeling I have being alone,
Watching a ladybug lift her black-spotted orange wings.

I won't insult or attack the surrounding beliefs and values,
I will ignore the people,
Let the people sniff their drugs.

Let the people smile as they squirm
In the shackles of their words.
I feel superhuman, blessed by the joyous feelings

As I watch a house fly
Wash with tiny legs its face
As it sits on cow dung.

Supernatural Darkness

by Yosh

what you see,
is only a little piece of what stands before you.

and there isn't much of a way to looker deeper,
without talking.

for years now, we have discussed things with our eyes,
forgetting that there is more than lies on top,
afraid of everything that digs underneath the shell of a body.

we want bodies to be what we perceive them as
and when a mind speaks we listen in hope it corresponds with our ideal.

when we are disappointed or overly impressed,
we shift our attention of focus to what fuels us on,
forgetting the former qualifications of what was so important.

I want to be heard while I am quiet.
accepting the hollow-light stares and radiant cool eyes
reflecting the tattered subjects of fancy and disdain

all the while knowing who I am,
and wondering if they will ever have the courage to ask.

The Essence Of One

by Puja Goyal

One Raindrop will quench the thirst inside.
One Grain of sand trapped in an oyster very tight.
One Budding flower in the garden outside.
One Free bird flying high, scaling the sky.
One Lost soul finding its way back home tonight.
One Hope that lightens everything around.
One Emotion, of a million different kinds.
One Deed of kindness it brings tears to my eyes.
One Touch of mine will heal your pain inside.
One Memory that will always remain in your mind.
One Single ship that will survive the dark storm.
One Star that will shine its purest light.
One Sun warming what lies beneath the skies.
One Hand, holding another, grasping it tight.
One Perseverance, I will climb mountains without feet.
One Struggle, a fight overcome.
One Earth that keeps us together all the time.
One Love, it stands the test of time.
One Way, a new direction, a long road.
One Long sleep in a bed of pot-pourri.
One Epitaph that says,
"One lies underneath the dry leaves,
Resting in a bed of her own".

One Moment, this is how far my life goes....
One will remain forever,
      Everything else will be mortalized.

Reconciliation

by Phoenix

Moonlight walks, nighttime walks
drifting among the shadowed trees
thinking of you, of love
I'm rid of that painful disease

you laughed as you cut;
held the knife out as a gift for me
I took it, kept it
showed no pain for you to see

There's no heart in believing, no relieving
to the scars that are left.
You ran away
never replacing your theft

Running led you astray, led you away
and for that I'm glad
because I'm made the better
and you'll never find what we had

forgive me if I sound bitter, I'm not
I finally found what I lost
after perusing the usings
freedom at so cheap a cost

Beauty in the stars at night,
no battles, what I want I got
poetry, life, breath, truth
remembering things I never knew I forgot

You laughed as you cut
and for that I'm glad
you ran away
freedom at so cheap a cost
