Moved last week. I now live in the country (as opposed to the very small capitol city of Montpelier, Vermont) near where I used to live. Where the Milky Way spans the sky on cloudless nights to be seen outside the lighted windows.
Moved again but still not a home to own. A farm house of goodly vintage on a dirt crossroads corner.
A thin cloak of crusty snow surrounds. On one lawn area I've walked a labyrinth of seven rings. Last night was clear, the temperatures low. Tonight soft cloud casts over most of the sky, but the bright blue of Betelgeuse gleams through. A south breeze keeps it mild, almost …warm.
The crescent moon on the waxing side sets before nine o'clock, in its fuzzy halo.
The knitting circle runs longer than usual. Talk of aged parents, high school kids and colleges, labyrinths, and corn mazes as I fringe the shawl I'd knit. A circle to knit prayer shawls, caps for cold pates of hairless women working through cancer treatment, soft and flagrantly bright scarves for children working through healing from abuse. Knotting fringe is not tedious with the flight of words between each other. Clicking needles do not infringe.
Turning out the lights in the building left the spotlight on the bright white front of the Meeting House to light the way to the cars.
Music, music, music. Much singing in the past three weeks. The "Messiah" in concerts, the "Messiah" in sing-along; rehearsing Haydn's "Harmoniesse" and Pergolesi's "Missa Romana" for this weekend's concerts; rehearsing Pergolesi's "Magnificat" for Candlelight Service; rehearsing Rutter's "Of A Rose" and other short pieces for Christmas Eve.
Greeting cards get left 'til late. Think of gifts…next week.
New granddaughter two weeks old…I haven't visited yet…almost four hours away. After Christmas. On her father's 30th birthday, maybe???
Praying for peace. Praying for drawing away from war. Praying for the dismantlement of every nuclear weapon in the world. Praying for common sense to inflict itself upon the minds the leaders of the United States.
Dream on.
