Dawn

Return to the Table of Contents

Dawn lives in Michigan and works full time as a computer lab aide, at a local high school. Dawn admits to being an AOL addict and thinks that her addiction is one of the better things that has happened to her. She is divorced, has four married children and two intelligent and beautiful granddaughters. Dawn is not attending college this term due to a broken ankle so she has a lot of time to spend online with her friends.

In addition to working full time, she is a college student majoring in computer programming, a Macworld Volunteer (she gives assistance to anyone who asks her for help with Macs and PCs), an Atlantic Live chat host, a writer of poetry and prose, and to many, a "Champion Flirt" who will defend her title against all comers! ;-)

She hopes to travel to Alaska each summer, to visit her sisters and spend some time in her two room cabin.

Dawn experiments with Haiku, sometimes weaving first and last lines into a string of vignettes, and other times expanding the forms. We're not completely sure we understand what she does with them...but we're sure we enjoy the results! Since Haiku is traditionally untitled, we have divided the two poems below into separate table sections. The first, on the left, was a collaboration between herself and KnownFelon. The second, on the right, was written by Dawn alone.

Red dawn of new day,
Cloud layers glow in flame hues.
Sailor's, shepherd's bane.

          ^^^^^

Sailor's, shepherd's bane;
'Cross worlds all men suffer same
 Sleep alone at night.

           ^^^^^

Sleep alone at night
Lonely dreams anticipate
Love, companionship.

          ^^^^^

Love, companionship
The wanting still transforms me
Now alone no more.

          ^^^^^

Now alone no more,
Confiding, sharing, growing
In truth, love, and faith.

          ^^^^^
In truth, love, and faith
Pledge tomorrow's wakening
We remain entwined.

           ^^^^^

We remain entwined,
Clinging vines, limbs of rubber,
Under a pale moon.

          ^^^^^

Under a pale moon
Pale shafts lead my vision
Where love reflects back.

Russet leaves rustle,
Glorious autumnal hues
Enchant, beckon me.

        Outdoors
             Explore
Shuffle through fragrant drifts of color.

Enchant, beckon me,
Through woodlands, on pleasant trails
Into forest mists.

        Seeking
             Watchful
Stumble down vague paths, hidden ways.

Into forest mists,
Senses dull, whispers imply
Concealed grandeur.

        Quiet
             Listen
   Gaia's wonders, terra's tempos.

Concealed grandeur,
 Burnished crowns on stately trees,
 Shimmer above us.

         Sparkle
             Glimmer
Frost rimed leaves quiver in moonlight.

Shimmer above us,
Constellations wheel across
 Heaven's tapestry.

        Ares
             Pluto
   Duel across the galaxy.

 Heaven's tapestry,
 Silver stitches on black velvet,
 Cloaks the night with stars.

      Seamless
           Perfect
   Firmament of precious jewels.

Cloaks the night with stars,
 Shadows reveal silhouettes,
  Forest ghosts at rest.

       Spirits
          Demons
   Await another moonless night
