Thoughts of a Seeker

December 1998

This is the season of sharp contrasts:

Giving - Receiving
Plenty - Poverty
Loving - Hating
Joy - Depression

when we are supposed to experience happiness and, quite frankly, we don't. But what is the feeling of being happy? I leave that up to you. My happiness is not your happiness, as my experience is not your experience.

The other morning a phrase came into my head and led to a poem:

The Other Side of Sunrise

On the other side of sunrise
There's a lake grey with dimness
Let us go there
Lie among the misty tendrils
And the spears of grasses

On the other side of sunrise
Mountains sing
Thrummed
By the winds of morning
Let us listen in the quiet dimness

On the other side of sunrise
Whom do we greet but our other selves
The ones that dance light-footed
Over green and grey molecules

Out there
We melt
Reform
Embrace
On the other side of sunrise

Thank you for the grace of your presence on this earth.
Truly,
