I am a retired schoolteacher of more than thirty years' experience. I did not own a camera until my mid-forties, when I bought a simple single-lens-reflex model. You might say that I am self-taught, since I just started snapping pictures and learning from my mistakes.
Being an outdoor person opened up many opportunities to record images that presented themselves to me. Once I began seeing things through a viewfinder there was a resonance with something inside me – a kind of spiritual thing.
My approach to photography is as an amateur. With no pressure to make money from it, it has become fun to do. That's the way I like it.
