We Dance In Each Other's Shadows

We dance in each other's shadows
(And can) neglect to see the light
which shines around us, revealing form

The shapes show the density where we have been
    --Yet are not us.

The outlines are the forms
                          we have filled
                --Yet are not within us.

Before you think you can see me before you,
Before you judge          what your senses inform you
Before you imagine that life is so transparently seen

--And
Before you accept the unmistakably obvious,

Remember--
This is only the place where light hasn't penetrated.

It isn't where I am.
        Isn't who I become.
                Isn't where I'll be.

We dance in each other's
Shadows.

Don't think it is me.

Don't think it is me.
Don't think it is me.
